A Few Updates

I’m 21 chapters in on the third draft of Girls Wearing Black #2. This draft is really clicking and I think will be the version of the story I’ll keep. I hope to be done with the draft in a week or two, then have the manuscript in the hands of some readers for reaction. Still aiming to get that book out by the end of August.

The Amazon exclusive on Zombie Apocalypse Serial has expired and those books will soon show up on all the other online retailers. Books 1 & 2 are available now on Amazon and Smashwords. In the next two weeks they’ll appear on Barnes & Noble. Give them another 2 weeks or so to show up on iTunes, Sony, and Kobo. I’m writing Zombie Apocalypse Serial #3 when I need a break from Nicky, Jill, and the gang, and will focus on it full-time when Girls Wearing Black 2 is done. Expect the next chapter of Zombie Apocalypse Serial some time in September.

One Fall is on a limited time free promotion (ends Monday), and has taken off like a rocket. Yesterday it broke Amazon’s Top 100 and was #1 in Sports and #4 in Suspense.     Really really having a hard time waiting for Girls Wearing Black 2. And waiting for Zombie Apoc. Serial is even worse!

    Can’t wait for Girls Wearing Black 2. How possible is it to become a reader for reaction? I would love to give feedback on books I have read.

    Hi Angela,

    Thanks so much for the feedback! Regarding early readers, my wife and a small group of writers I’ve known forever are my early readers on manuscripts prior to publication. These people know how to handle me and my various neuroses about my manuscripts with delicate care. Girls Wearing Black 2 is close enough to publication that I wouldn’t want to bring anyone new into the fold at this point, but I might be brave and share a future manuscript with more of my readers for feedback prior to publication. There are a couple of you out there who have asked to do something like this so I think we should try it on a future novel–a larger group of beta readers might well bring about a much better finished product!

The Author

For more than 15 years Spencer Baum wrote blistering pageturners with sci fi and horror elements.

His first novel was used as a textbook in a Harvard classroom and was optioned for a movie by Brand New Productions in Hollywood. His second novel was an Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award Semifinalist. His Girls Wearing Black novels have been fantasy and suspense bestsellers on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and iBooks.

Though he was able to make a living from his books during the early years of the digital publishing revolution, the changing nature of that marketplace meant that he had to rejoin the real world in 2019 following publication of his final novel, The Tetradome Run.
