Independent Publishing has been so good to me, I’m excited when I get a chance to help others get a leg up. Here is an interview with author Melanie Stinnett as part of her blog hop to get the word out about her forthcoming novel, Crossing Paths.

1: What is the working title of your book?

Crossing Paths

2: Where did the idea come from for the book?

I was working on a idea for a different book when the characters just came to me. I liked the idea of two friends finding love at the same time but having to deal with some turmoil.

3: What genre does your book come under?

New Adult – Contemporary Romance

4: Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?

June – Piper Perabo

 Caroline – Camilla Luddington

 Liam – Chris Pine

 Cohen – James Marsden

5: What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?

First glances don’t tell you everything.

6: Is your book self-published, published by an independent publisher, or represented by an agency?

I am planning to self-publish.

7: How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?

I am still writing the first draft. If I complete it by my deadline, it will have taken about 5 months.

8: What books have inspired you within your genre?

The Coincidence of Callie and Kayden by Jessica Sorenson

One Pink Line by Dina Silver

9: Who or what inspired you to write this book?

I have always been interested in writing. The passion for reading and writing was instilled in me at a young age because my mother and grandmother love to read. I also had some outstanding teachers in high school and college that encouraged creativity with writing. It wasn’t until last year that I discovered the world of self publishing and the indie author community. I am excited to be giving my dream a try.

10: What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?

This book will be an emotional read with small glimpses into real life scenarios in which people have to make tough, life altering decisions.
